I got this idea from an article on ELEPHANT JOURNAL and it struck me as awesome. So awesome that I went straight to my storage shed, opened a box of Mason jars, grabbed one and went to work on it.
I wanted to decorate my jar and so I painted the sun on one side, a tree on the other, blue swatches of sky and sea around and in between... I put a label on the lid that says "gratitude jar" and I wrote my first happy note about how I had made the very first batch of Green Witch Lotion that day.
Your notes can be about anything! I great movie you saw, a sunset, time with friends, the best meal ever, the love of your dog and how he thinks you are a goddess, the first flower of spring, the funny bird at the feeder, the fact that you got all your chores done before Noon and the day is your own...
Gratitude is something that cannot be limited to traditional accomplishments or scheduled prayers but it is something that should be positive and makes your soul smile.
So, I want to fill my jar with all kinds of good things and for Winter Solstice 2014 I will work those things into my ritual as I am feeling is perfect for that night. Until then little jar, prepare to eat my words!
Trying to live well in every way...and sometimes laughing about it later.
